Aakjaer posted discriminatory comments on Facebook about Eastern Europeans and Muslims leaving Manchester United with no option but to immediately terminate his position with the club.
However, the Dane has spoken out about the situation claiming that the Red Devils were scared to back him as the image of the club could be damaged if they were to express their defence.
Aakjaer has openly admitted he did make the racist comments making it difficult for there to be any defence:
“I do understand if people are offended by that comment [calling Eastern Europeans dirt and sh..], but I think it’s just my statement to the article linked to,” Aakjaer told Danish newspaper BT.
“It’s not a racist comment. But I do understand Manchester United terminating my contract when they get it presented this way.”
