Manchester United are set to offer Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal a deal that would immediately make him one of the Premier League’s highest earners in a bid to lure him away from Juventus, according to reports from the Metro.
Vidal recently suffered heartbreak on the international stage at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, watching from the sidelines having been substituted off as his Chilean team were eliminated in a tense penalty shoot-out by hosts Brazil.
Despite this, however, Vidal is seen as one of the world’s most complete central midfielders and would represent a real statement of intent for United, who would be bringing in a world class talent despite a lack of European football.
They would have to pay through the nose for the privilege, however, with these reports suggesting that a wage of around £230,000 per week could be required to lure Vidal away from Juventus.
Whilst the Serie A giants are on the path to reclaiming their place as one of Europe’s biggest clubs, the Old Lady are not yet ready to match the wages that can be paid by the big clubs in the Premier League, making a move for Vidal entirely plausible.
Whether United can persuade him to join a club with no European football and on the back of such a disappointing campaign, however, remains to be seen.
