New Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reportedly close to signing the Brazilian full-back, who could be a Bluebirds player in time to go head-to-head with his twin on Tuesday.
Cardiff have to buy Fabio, rather than sign him on loan, because they are set to land winger Wilfried Zaha on loan from Old Trafford and Premier League do not allow clubs to loan two players to one of their top flight rivals.
Solskjaer worked with Fabio when he was in United’s backroom staff and, with the left-back’s contract up in the summer, has talked the 23-year-old into joining him at the Bluebirds for a bargain price.
