Red Devils have been tracking player for some time now.
New Manchester United head coach David Moyes may miss out on his number one transfer target of the summer to his old adversary Rafa Benitez, according to reports in the Daily Star.
The Scot has been tracking highly rated PSV Eindhoven midfield player Kevin Strootman for some time now, and was even set to make a move for the player while he was in charge of previous club Everton, before he agreed to succeed Sir Alex Ferguson in the Old Trafford hot seat that is.
However, Moyes’s move to the north west has apparently not ended his interest in the Netherlands international, who has been with the Dutch giants for the past two years now, having originally signed for the club from Utrecht in 2011.
And in the intervening two-year period, the 23-year-old has featured in 62 matches in all competitions for PSV, scoring seven goals in the process, although Moyes is said to be concerned that he may miss out on the Dutchman’s signature to new Napoli boss Benitez, who is also reportedly keen to sign the player this summer.
