The striker was left out of the entire matchday squad for the Red Devils’ 1-0 defeat to Southampton on Sunday, and it seems that this is the latest example of the poor treatment the 28-year-old has been subject to.
“It is sad to see how Louis van Gaal is treating Falcao,” Asprilla said. “The problem is not Falcao, but the coach. Falcao had an injury earlier in the season, but after he proved that he is still the same top scorer he used to be.
“He played five games and scored goals. But this is all about giving him confidence.“After playing well some games it is inexplicable he suddenly stop playing,” he added.
“The truth is that I do not know what Van Gaal is trying to do at United. And I think both players and fans are also confused. He does many changes without reasons.”
This does not bode well for the chances that the former Atletico Madrid player will stay at Old Trafford pas the end of the current campaign. His loan deal ends in the summer and the Mancunian club may not take up the opportunity to sign him for £40 million at the end of it.
