Manchester United have confirmed that Ajax have accepted a £13.8m bid from them for versatile Netherlands international Daley Blind.
Blind will be the Red Devils’ fifth major signing of the summer and take their total spending to £145.5m, completely changing the look of their starting XI under new manager Louis van Gaal.
Here is how United’s lineup could look once the 24-year-old is signed.
GK – David de Gea
The goalkeeper has been one of the best performers in what has been a difficult period for the club and the 23-year-old has greatly improved from when he first arrived in 2011.
CB – Phil Jones
Now back in his preferred central defensive role the England international has looked good and has arguably been the team’s best defender so far this season.
CB – Chris Smalling
Just edging ahead of Jonny Evans for a place because the Northern Irishman has been largely woeful and Smalling deserves to be given the chance.
CB – Marcos Rojo
One of the new signings having joined from Sporting Lisbon for £16m, but is still yet to play for the club due to issues with his work permit and should go straight in once that’s sorted.
