Manchester United target Miranda has confirmed that he has offers from clubs in England and Spain, according to reports from Sky Sports.
It came as something of a surprise when the 29 year-old missed out on the Brazil squad for the World Cup, considering his impressive performances in a wonderful season for Atletico Madrid, but he looks set to put that disappointment behind him with a move to one of the world’s biggest clubs.
It is believed that Barcelona and Manchester United are leading the race for the centre back, but if an offer from the Catalan side is forthcoming then Champions League football next season could swing it in their favour, a problem that new United boss Louis van Gaal is likely to encounter on numerous occasions in the transfer market this summer.
Miranda is something of a late developer, having only moved to Atletico from Sao Paulo in his native country in 2011 after an unsuccessful early spell in Europe with Sochaux, but his robust displays alongside Diego Godin at the heart of Diego Simeone’s defence made him one of La Liga’s stand-out performers in 2013/14.
This was not enough to convince Luiz Felipe Scolari to include him in the Selecao squad, however, with the World Cup winning manager preferring a partnership of Thiago Silva and David Luiz.
