RVP wants to leave Man Utd, according to Lawro.
Manchester United striker Robin van Persie may have submitted a transfer request, according to former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson.
United started the weekend eighth in the table, 12 points adrift of Premier League leaders Arsenal, following Wednesday’s 1-0 home defeat to Everton.
After a dismal summer in the transfer market, new boss David Moyes has struggled to live up to his illustrious predecessor Sir Alex Ferguson and the club have lost four of their 14 league matches this term.
Van Persie has also struggled to hit the heights of the previous two seasons, where he finished with the Golden Boot, despite scoring seven league goals already this term.
And BBC pundit Lawrenson suggested there could be more problems around the corner for Moyes, after claiming there are whispers among the press core that the Netherlands international has asked to leave Old Trafford.
“There’s all sorts of rumours coming out of the training group at the moment, as you can imagine, and one or two of the press boys that cover Manchester United are saying the big whisper is that van Persie might have asked for a transfer on Tuesday,” Lawrenson told Today FM.
“If that happens, what a mess it is going to be.
“This is the van Persie that David Moyes insisted at the start of the season was going to be number one, which is what put Wayne Rooney’s nose out of joint,” added Lawrenson.
“The problem with van Persie and Manchester United is that Ferguson said he would stay for three more years, he left after one and van Persie has gone into the Dutch mode of sulking.”
James Ducker of The Times dimissed Lawrenson’s comments however, describing them as ‘complete rubbish’.
Don’t even know why I’m tweeting this to be honest but the rumours about Van Persie are complete rubbish
