Manchester United’s summer signing Ander Herrera is enjoying life at Old Trafford and is hoping for a long stay, the midfielder told the club’s official website. Herrera netted a brace in the 3-1 win against Aston Villa on Saturday and is starting to show some consistency following his protracted summer move.
The former Athletic Bilbao midfielder was involved in a peculiar deal involving Man United in the summer of 2013 which ended with some impostors attempting to conclude a deal on behalf of the Red Devils (via Daily Mail).
12 months later, the Spaniard got his move and after a period of adaptation, he is finally being shown the trust by manager Louis van Gaal who has favoured a midfield paring of Michael Carrick and Herrera in recent weeks.

“I’m very happy,” Herrera told Manutd.com.
“Even when I was not playing, I was also happy. I am at Manchester United. I feel really lucky to be here. The manager has to decide who is playing or not but we have to respect always the decision he makes. The manager wants the best for the team, the best for us and we have to follow him always.
“When I signed for Manchester United, I was thinking of players like Michael Carrick, Wayne Rooney, Antonio Valencia, Rafael da Silva and, although he is not here now, Darren Fletcher. These are people who have been playing for a long time for United. It’s my dream to be here for a long time because I am in the right team, in the right league and in the right country. I feel very happy and I want to stay at the club for many years to come.”
Since being dragged off in the FA Cup defeat at home to Arsenal, Herrera has responded remarkably and is now the fourth highest goalscorer at the club as Man United look to cement their top four place.
