In a diamond midfield, Daley Blind should continue as the furthest back after a good start to his United career, while Ander Herrera and Angel Di Maria take the two central spots and Juan Mata lines up just ahead of them in Rooney’s role behind the main frontmen. The Spanish playmaker has been under-used by the club this season but is surely a better creative option in that position when on top form.
