Manly Sea Eagles full-back Brett Stewart is in doubt for his side’s qualifying final encounter with the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Friday as he battles to overcome an ankle injury.
Stewart was forced to watch from the sidelines as the North Queensland Cowboys easily accounted for the Sea Eagles in Townsville as a result of the injury sustained late last week.
The Sea Eagles are expected to give Stewart up until the last minute to prove his fitness, however captain Jamie Lyon said the speedster was only half a chance to play.
“He is 50/50 at the moment,” Lyon told AAP.
“I haven’t seen him today but he rolled an ankle on Friday before the Saturday game against the Cowboys.
“We just have to wait and see for it to settle down and fingers crossed hopefully he will be okay.”
Manly have lost three of its four past matches and are facing an injury crisis with Matt Ballin, Jamie Buhrer and Glenn Stewart all ruled out until season’s end.
