Star fullback tipped to be the side’s not-so-secret weapon.
Manly fullback Brett Stewart will be fit and firing against Melbourne in round one at Brookvale Oval in what is a huge boost for the side.
Stewart came from the field with an arm injury in Saturday’s trial against Parramatta but has been cleared to tackle the Storm.
Sea Eagles coach Geoff Toovey said on Monday: ‘”We took him off only as a precaution.
“He will be fine for our first game.’’
Toovey wasn’t commenting on the playing future of Brett’s brother, Glenn.
Glenn comes off contract at Manly after this season and has been linked to Canberra.
“I don’t want to discuss individual contracts,’’ Toovey said.
Asked did he want Glenn to re-sign, Toovey said: “Of course.’’
