The NRL will investigate the alleged poor behaviour by Manly Sea Eagles star Willie Mason at an Auckland nightclub durring the Nine’s tournament.
According to AAP, Mason was asked to leave a popular Auckland nightspot after what was described as a minor incident.
The NRL veteran was not part of the Sea Eagles squad for the pre-season competition, but attended as a guest.
Manly released a statement on Sunday, saying the club had referred the incident on to the NRL’s Integrity Unit.
“The club has been made aware of the alleged anti-social behavior by Willie Mason at the NRL Auckland Nines over the weekend,” the statement read.
“Although not a part of the Sea Eagles NRL Auckland Nines squad, Mason is still a representative of the club and as such, the matter will be reviewed internally before offering any further comment.
“The NRL’s Integrity Unit is also aware of the matter.”
Mason is a recent addition to the Sea Eagles squad, having joined from the Newcastle Knights at the end of the 2014 season.
