The pair met in May earlier this year with Mayweather securing a unanimous points victory over the Filipino, and it sparked widespread disappointment in and out of the industry given the underwhelming nature of the fight.
Unsurprisingly, Mayweather adopted his usual defensive style which limited Pacquiao’s ability to let his shots go, and so the unbeaten American won comfortably before extending his record to 49-0 in September ahead of announcing his retirement.
However, Pacquiao appears to be in the process of trying to tempt the 38-year-old back into the ring, as he took to his Facebook page to reveal that talks were taking place.
Promoter Bob Arum has confirmed that ‘Pac-Man’ intends to retire from boxing after his next fight, and it appears as though he wants to make it as big as possible before bowing out.
Amir Khan and Terence Crawford have been touted as possible opponents for April 9, but it remains to be seen whether or not Mayweather vs Pacquiao II takes priority as the respective promotional companies will be taking a risk on whether or not the public will buy into the hype for a second time.
