Rookie linebacker yet to make his first start for the San Diego Chargers.
There was a Manti Te’o sighting at San Diego Chargers practice this week, with hopes the star rookie linebacker edging closer to making his NFL debut.
In other injury news from inside the Chargers camp, standout inside linebacker Donald Butler did not practice earlier this week but is still on the radar of head coach Mike McCoy.
The odds are that when the Chargers play at Tennessee on Sunday, Butler will play and rookie linebacker Te’o likely won’t.
Butler missed practice with a groin injury- but the team does not think it’s serious while Te’o practiced on a limited basis for the first time since suffering a foot injury in the preseason opener, August 8 against Seattle.
Te’o was limited Wednesday. He will need some time to knock the rust off and get used to the defense again. Nevertheless, Wednesday marked progress for the second-round pick.
In other Chargers news, quarterback Philip Rivers was named AFC offensive player of the week for his 419-yard, three-touchdown performance in San Diego’s 33-30 victory at Philadelphia on Sunday.
