Another manager who until this season appeared invincible, Klopp has seen his side fall to pieces this term. They are tenth in the Bundesliga now – terrible by the high standards set by Klopp – but it could have been even worse, as they were languishing at the bottom at the start of February.

The fact he guided them to the Champions League final in 2013 may be enough to save his skin, but there is bound to be an inquest this summer. He’s in danger.
