Despite having closed the door on a reunion with Rafa Benitez in Real Madrid, midfielder Marek Hamsik is still open to leaving Napoli depending on who the club’s new manager will be.
According to the Express, Hamsik has no interest in reuniting with Benitez in Bernabeu despite winning 50 out of 88 games together from 2013 to 2015. Hamsik reportedly revealed that his relationship with Benitez bottomed out in the months leading up to the manager’s resignation and subsequent signing with Real Madrid.
In turn, a trio of Premier League teams including Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea will all be watching how the situation plays out with baited breath after they all failed to lure Hamsik away from Serie A back in January.
Hamsik has played eight straight seasons with Napoli, appearing in 279 matches and scoring 75 league goals. He was named to the Serie A Team of the Year in the 2010-11 season and was the Serie A top assister in 2012-13. In addition, Hamsik won a pair of Coppa Italia titles in 2011-12 and 2013-14.
