Italian international helps Rossoneri through to Champions League.
AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli has revealed that comparisons with Zlatan Ibrahimovic are a compliment, for the Paris Saint-Germain ace.
The 23-year-old helped the Serie A giants through to the Champions League group stages on Wednesday night, as they defeated PSV 3-0 at San Siro, with a 4-1 success on aggregate.
Balotelli scored in between a double from Kevin-Prince Boateng, as Milan bounced back from their opening day disappointment in losing to Hellas Verona.
Coach Massimiliano Allegri will be eager for them to continue the form they showed against Cagliari this weekend, and Balotelli believes the squad is growing in both confidence and maturity.
“We need to grow, like everybody, but slowly but surely we will reach perfection,” he told Sky Sport Italia as reported by ESPN.
The Italian international netted his first goal in Europe for Milan to help them to a comfortable victory, but critics still suggest that the club needs to bring in new faces before the transfer deadline next week.
Balotelli has grown into an integral part of Allegri’s first-team, and alongside Stephan El Shaarawy they will be tasked with the responsibility of firing Milan to glory both domestically and in Europe.
However, comparisons have been made between the former Manchester City striker and former Milan ace Ibrahimovic.
With Allegri’s style of using his main striker as a focal point for his attacking moves, many believe Balotelli has now picked up from where the Swedish international left off but the player himself had fun with the comment when asked about a possible comparison.
“Ibra is Ibra, I am me,” Balotelli continued. “I get likened to him and it’s a compliment… for him,” he smiled.
