Mario Balotelli may never be good enough for Liverpool says unhappy Brendan Rodgers.
The Italy international has been short of both form and confidence since a £16m summer switch from AC Milan and Reds fans have already grown disillusioned with their side’s supposed Luis Suarez replacement.
Balotelli has scored just once since arriving from Serie A – a strike against Ludogorets in the Champions League – and his poor showings in several games has seen critics get on the forward’s back.
It is quite a fall from grace for an attacker who is still only 24-years-old and after failing to fit in at Inter Milan, Manchester City and Milan, the Italian may have to add Merseyside to the ever-growing list.
Although Balotelli probably isn’t top of many manager’s wishlists, Rafael Benitez is open to the idea of bringing the former City star to the Stadio San Paolo – but only for a cut-price fee.
