Mario Balotelli‘s Liverpool career looks to be all but over after the Italian international was left out of the Reds’ final two pre-season games, according to reports.
Balotelli was not expected to join the squad on its pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East, however, Brendan Rodgers has sent a clear message to the striker just a week out from the beginning of the Premier League season.
According to The Mirror, Rodgers has left Balotelli out of the squad that will travel to Finland to face HJK Helsinki and has also been left out of a second-string side that will face Swindon Town on Sunday.
It seems Balotelli is clearly on the outer at the Reds and with interest reportedly coming from the likes of Sampdoria and Bologna, the 24-year-old looks to be heading towards the exit door at Anfield.
The former Manchester City man struggled in his first season with Liverpool, scoring just one goal in 16 Premier League appearances.
