A rising star on the PSG defense, Marquinhos could very well be the heir to John Terry’s position at Stamford Bridge.
With John Stones seemingly off the market for Chelsea, the reigning Premier League champs have turned their attention to Paris Saint-Germain defensive youngster Marquinhos.
According to the Metro, Chelsea have made a transfer inquiry to the Ligue 1 giants in an attempt to hijack a possible transfer move by Man United for the 21-year-old center/right back. The move comes after Everton made it clear this past week that star defender John Stones will not be allowed to transfer before the summer window closes.
However, PSG president Nasser Al Khelaifi has been quick to quash any potential transfers with the blunt statement, “don’t even bother making an offer” for Marquinhos.
Marquinhos has recorded four goals over his last two seasons with PSG, and the Brazilian international has made 44 starts for the club since signing on a €31.4 million move back in 2013.
Chelsea’s defense has given up 2 or more goals in each of the first four matches and have struggled mightily on defense with AND without captain John Terry.
