The Reds are already sweating on the futures of England internationals Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling continue to stall on new deals.
And in contrast to the midfield pairing, Skrtel has revealed that he is in the dark over his future as he is not certain that the club even want him.
“There was contact a few months ago. But at the moment I am focusing on my game and at the end of the season we will see where we stand,” he said.
The Slovakian international revealed that talks over a new offer being put on the table have since been put back to the summer while negotiations to keep hold of other players have taken precedence.
Like Henderson, Skrtel has just over a year remaining on his Anfield deal, but contract talks are threatening to overshadow the club’s run in towards the Champions League.
At a kit unveiling on Thursday, Sterling was heckled by members of the audience as he answered questions.
