Gavet ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during a training session last Thursday and requires immediate surgery.
The 25-year-old underwent a knee reconstruction on Monday afternoon and will not return in 2015.
Gavet was running defence against the first-grade side as he served the second week of a three-week ban for a shoulder charge during the Broncos’ round one loss against the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
According to the Broncos, Gavet’s recovery time is expected to be between six and nine months, meaning he will not return for the rest of the season.
It’s a cruel blow for Gavet who only joined the Broncos at the end of the 2014 season from Wests Tigers.
