Rookie QB confident he can bring immediate production to team’s new look look offence.
After being taken in the fourth round of this year’s draft, USC Quarterback Matt Barkley thinks he can make an immediate the Eagles’ new look offence next season.
Speaking to 97.5 The Fanatic radio station via Phillymag.com, the 22-year old was hopeful of what he could bring to the team in 2013.
“In terms of what style of quarterback he needs, I have heard him say multiple times both to the public and to me personally that he is going to make the personnel he has fit in the system.” Barkley said.
“So without a doubt I have confidence that I can come in right away and make an impact, or just help the team in whatever way I can.”
There is no doubt that Barkley has the tools to become a productive starter in the NFL at some point in his career, it will be a hard to see him get any quality playing time early on, especially behind Mike Vick and Nick Foles on the depth chart.
Chip Kelly is a smart coach, and there may be a certain package that will be designed to fit the rookie QB’s talents, but as of right now, he may be sitting and learning, rather than playing.
