Floyd Mayweather Jr and Victor Ortiz both made the weight ahead of their WBC welterweight showdown in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Mayweather (41-0) was first to step onto the scales, weighing in at 146.5lbs as thousands of fans gathered inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Friday afternoon.
In his first fight in 16 months, having successfully defeated ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley at the same venue the last time he was in the ring, Mayweather looked in confident mood as things became a little heated.
“I believe in my skills. I believe in my talent,” Mayweather told reporters on Friday. “This fight will not go the distance.”
Meanwhile, Ortiz (29-2-2), weighed in at 147lbs, right on the welterweight limit, and will look to build on his title-claiming victory over Andre Berto last time out.
“He’s done,” Ortiz said. “I don’t care what he brings. He was done when he signed to fight Victor Ortiz. America wants to see change. Change is coming soon.”
Mexican legend Erik Morales will take on Pablo Cesar Cano on the undercard, with both fighters tipping the scales on the limit of 140lbs.
