Mayweather says it hurts to disappoint fans: Mayweather says it can’t be helped sometimes.
“My dad is team Pacquiao all the way. My dad really likes Manny, he’s a huge fan of his,” she told TMZ.
“He knows Manny’s a great fighter but it’s more about what he does outside the ring. He’s such a charitable person.”
Ali’s daughter added that her father would be watching the fight at home and will enjoy the bout as the whole event takes him back to when he was fighting.
However, he will be firmly in Pac-Man’s corner as he sees that Mayweather doesn’t particularly stand for anything, Rasheda told TMZ, while Pacquiao has made a conscious effort to give back to the Philippines throughout his career in and out of the ring.
It is fair to say that the general support is behind the 36-year-old, although there is no denying Mayweather’s ability as he looks to improve his unbeaten record to 48-0 on May 2 and is the favourite in the bout.
The fight is expected to shatter all previous records for revenue and viewing figures, and with just over a month to go, both men are deep in their training camps preparing for what will be the biggest night in boxing history.
Ali had an influence both in boxing and outside of the sport for his political beliefs and ambitions, and judging from his daughter’s comments, he sees similarities in Pacquiao and will be backing him against the odds when he finally comes face-to-face with Mayweather in the ring to settle the debate over who the pound-for-pound king of boxing is.
