The pair came face-to-face on Friday at the weigh-in at the Garden Arena, and they were welcomed by a raucous crowd to give them an idea of what to expect on Saturday.
Pacquiao appeared to embrace his reception and looked calm and relaxed, constantly smiling throughout the event as he weighed in at 145 pounds, two pounds under the welterweight limit.
In contrast, Mayweather (146 pounds) looked a lot more focused and was intense in the head-to-head while his rival was his usual uncomfortable self as he eventually broke away from the stare-off and started laughing.
“I feel confident for tomorrow and I am ready for tomorrow,” he told Sky Sports.
“I think he is a little bit worried because he will face the threat to that 47-0.”
The 36-year-old added that he will be more aggressive than usual and has worked on various tactics with trainer Freddie Roach in the gym ahead of what is the biggest fight in boxing history on a financial scale particularly.
The Filipino insisted that the camp is confident that he will have the ability to win on points if the fight goes the distance, and given that neither man has claimed a stoppage win in years, it may well come down to the judges scorecards to determine the winner.
Essentially, the fight should live up to expectations given the contrasting styles and it will be a case of who can out-fox their opponent with Pacquiao likely to be the aggressor and take the fight to Mayweather.
The unbeaten American will use his defensive genius to his advantage and counter-punch, and so it could come down to who makes the biggest mistakes early on in the fight which sees them fall behind on the scorecards and become desperate down the stretch.
