Pacquiao arrived in Las Vegas on Monday and held a fan rally at the Mandalay Bay resort where he was greeted by a significant following ahead of his super-fight against Mayweather at the MGM Grand on Saturday night.
While the Filipino insisted that he was excited for the bout and told his fans to relax as he is confident that he will win, he later met with a select group of media to discuss the upcoming bout.
The 36-year-old was asked about a new shirt that Mayweather has created which has his face on it outlined by the colours of the Filipino flag and his trademark ‘TMT’ slogan emblazoned on it.
While that of course stands for ‘The Money Team’ for the unbeaten American superstar, Pacquiao couldn’t help but have some fun with it and joked with reporters.
“That’s good. That’s good that he wants to join our team. TMT, stands for ‘The Manny Team’,” he said, according to Boxing Scene, which was greeted with laughter from the media.
Pacquiao certainly looks calm and relaxed in the build-up to the biggest fight of his career, and essentially all the hard work has been done in training camp. All that is left is for him to enjoy the events of fight week and stay composed ahead of what will be an historic night for the sport.
Meanwhile, Mayweather is expected to make his grand entrance at the MGM Grand later on Tuesday night, with Pacquiao opting for a smaller welcome at the rival hotel as promoter Bob Arum had previously insisted that he could do without the scrum and attention that comes at the venue for Saturday’s fight.
The pair will meet at the final press conference on Wednesday before the weigh-in on Friday draws a close to fight week, which in turn will leave nothing left but for the duo to settle their rivalry in the ring on Saturday night.
