Indian midfielder well aware of the extent of his sides poor performance
After entering the last four on the back foot, East Bengal midfielder Mehtab Hossain admitted their were several problems that need to be addressed should his side pick themselves up and go on and win the tournament.
Speaking to Sportskeeda.com, The defensive midfielder said perhaps one of the reasons the teams performance suffered was that they were trying out a new system.
Something that with the gift of hindsight, isn’t usually best left to the final group game of a major Championship.
“Yes it is one of the worst. We needed to perform better today and possibly would have had we adjusted better to the new system.
“We were trying something different today and just the time when it started to click we conceded from a set-piece. That was a huge blow for us and we dididn’t recover.”
Hossain also feels the atmosphere and passion of the Nepalese fans played a part, making it difficult for the Indians to get into a solid rhythm.
“Yes I have played in front of big crowds many times but today, it was just too loud and the stands were pretty close to the pitch so it made it very difficult to communicate with each other.”
