The former Bulldog will miss at least a month.
Melbourne veteran Daniel Cross is expected to miss up to six weeks of AFL action with a broken leg.
Cross, who has been part of the Demon’s new midfield set up, sustained the injury late in the final quarter during the Demons’ 41-point loss to North Melbourne on Sunday.
Demons coach Paul Roos said Cross would spend a month at the very minimum on the sidelines.
“It’s a small fracture in one of the bones in the leg so it’s a 4-6 week injury,” Roos said on Tuesday.
“That’s not ideal for Crossy, he’s been a really good player for us and pretty important.
“Hopefully he gets back in the shorter time frame, but he’ll certainly be out for a minimum of four.”
In further bad news for Melbourne, forward Shannon Byrnes could be ruled out for the rest of the season with an ongoing foot issue.
