Melbourne have managed to lock in Hogan until 2017, despite interest from Fremantle.
Young forward Jesse Hogan has re-signed with the Melbourne Football Club until the end of the 2017 season.
Hogan was contracted to the end of next season, however it is believed the Demons were keen to sign the youngster on a longer-term deal due to interest from Fremantle.
AFL.com.au reported that the Dockers were preparing to tempt Hogan with a lucrative offer in order to lure the 19-year-old back to Perth.
Hogan kicked 35 goals for VFL side Casey Scorpions in 2013, winning the team’s best and fairest award.
However, the 195cm player’s AFL debut has been delayed due to back issues.
“This year hasn’t been ideal for me, not being able to play,” Hogan said.
“I wanted to play a year first before making my decision, but with my back it hasn’t turned out that way.
“The time was right just so I can get into next season with confidence, focus on the footy and not have my mind on what I’m doing at the end of the year.”
