Melbourne big hitters come to The Island for Autumn A-league clash.
Two of Australia’s biggest teams will travel to Tasmania for a pre-season game in September.
Melbourne Victory, long since a favourite league side of most Tasmanian’s will play host last year’s Premier plate winners Western Sydney Wanderers.
In a double dose of pre-season, Victory will also play the senior Tasmanian side that same day.
The game is scheduled for 29th August at 12pm at Kingston Twin Ovals with the second game at 2.30pm, Melbourne Victory Managing Director Richard Wilson told the official A-League side how much of an opportunity this game was.
He said: “I think it speaks volumes that we’ve chosen Tasmania as a testing ground for how we approach the upcoming season.
“The Wanderers had a fantastic debut season on and off the pitch last year and we know it will be a huge match for both sides, so we are excited to be playing them in front of what we consider a home crowd.
“Playing the Tassie side as an opener will also give our coaches an opportunity to get a closer look at some of the players we’ve been keeping tabs on throughout the Victory League this year.”
Victory travelled to Tassie twice last season, both times at Launceston’s Aurora stadium, hosting a pre-season fixture against Adelaide United and a regular league match against Central Coast Mariners.
Tickets for this highly anticipated clash will be on sale from the 7th August, in the first round of the A-League on October 12th, Victory take on Melbourne Heart and Western Sydney Wanderers travel to Central Coat Mariners.
