Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil was signed to one of the most expensive deals in Premier League history, as he was sold to the Gunners for £42.5m by Real Madrid.
Ozil revealed to the official Arsenal website that he loves playing at the Emirates and went on to praise Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.
“He knows exactly how I tick and I know exactly what he thinks of me. I just want to help the team as much as possible on the pitch – that’s my target,” Ozil said.
The 26-year-old also cited the team’s playing style as a reason for being drawn to them and leaving Real Madrid.
“Before I joined, I knew that Arsenal were always a technically strong team. That’s also why I decided to join this club, because I know exactly what the manager wants from the team,” Ozil said.
“Our game centres around playing good, technical football and that’s good. It’s thanks to the manager because he’s worked on that for years and has formulated a technically gifted team that can dominate any opposition.”
In his first two seasons with Arsenal, Ozil made 48 Premier League appearances and scored nine goals.
Arsenal still have yet to grasp the evasive Premier League title since 200, as they have fallen short despite finishing in the top four in each of Wenger’s years.
Although many Arsenal fans have become impatient with Wenger’s lack of recent championships and ultra-conservative spending, the French boss seems to have his team behind him right now.
