The Memphis Tigers finished their season with a 10-3 record with a 55-48 double overtime victory in the Miami Beach Bowl against the BYU Cougars.

The Miami Beach Bowl was a match for the ages as Memphis and BYU battled back and forth in a high-scoring game, but the Tigers ultimately prevailed, 55-48, in double overtime.
After the Tigers took a 38-28 lead in the third quarter, BYU scored 21 unanswered points before Memphis responded with the game-tying touchdown on fourth down.
The game was sent to overtime where both teams kicked a field goal. Memphis kicker Jake Elliott drilled a 54-yarder before quarterback Paxton Lynch threw what went on to be the game-winning touchdown. The defense came through on the final drive when BYU quarterback Christian Stewart threw his third interception.
Lynch was the player of the game as he totaled seven touchdowns. He threw for 306 yards with four touchdown passes against three interceptions on 24-of-46 passing. He added 38 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 13 carries.
For the Cougars, Stewart threw for 348 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions on 23-of-48 passing.
After this emotionally charged game, an ugly fight that will be talked about for a long time took place between the teams.
