Dolphins RB Knowshon Moreno impressed in his debut for Miami, going 64 yards on only 10 carries.
The Miami Dolphins defeated the Dallas Cowboys 25-20 in Week 3 of the NFL preseason.
The Dolphins and Cowboys changed leads throughout the first three quarters of the game with the Cowboys taking a 20-11 lead with 7:17 remaining in the fourth quarter. But the Dolphins were able to piece together two successful TD drives in the next five and a half minutes of game time. First, an 89-yard drive aided by a 53-yard run by RB Orleans Darkwa followed by a 27-yard TD pass to Harold Hoskins. The second TD came after a 12-play drive that included 6 penalties between both sides.
Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill was somewhat ineffective throwing the ball, going 13 of 21 for 119 yards and an INT, with a passer rating of 57.4. However, the Dolphins running game was solid, totaling 200 yards on the ground and averaging 5.7 yards per carry by the entire team. RB Knowshon Moreno, making his preseason debut after recovering from an injury, went 64 yards on 10 carries.
The Cowboys starters played mistake-free football on offense, committing no turnovers. However, the team struggled to move the ball, with only two plays of 20 yards or more in the game. QB Tony Romo led the team with 87 yards passing but was sacked 3 times. Backup QB Brandon Weeden threw the team’s only offensive TD and finished with a passer rating of 121.1 – best in the game.
