The Dolphins are clearly in desperate need of a suitable backup for QB Ryan Tannehill – they’re giving tryouts to anyone with name recognition.
With Dolphins backup QB Matt Moore recovering from a shoulder injury, the Miami Dolphins have given workouts to three veteran QBs: Rex Grossman, John Skelton and Brady Quinn.
Grossman is a former 1st-round draft pick who took the Chicago Bears to the Superbowl in 2006, but has not thrown an NFL pass since 2011.
Skelton started 17 games for the Arizona Cardinals from 2010 to 2012, but did not start a game for either the 49ers or the Titans in his short time on their rosters in 2013.
Quinn is a former Browns 1st-round draft pick who was a star in college at Notre Dame but has played in only 24 games in 6 seasons and has been on 5 separate teams since 2011.
The Dolphins are investing all of their hopes that QB Ryan Tannehill, who has a 15-17 record in two years as a starter, will be able to make the jump to being one of the top QBs in the league in 2014.
