The San Antonio Spurs will host the Miami Heat in Game 2 of the NBA Finals 2014 looking to take a two-game lead over their rivals after clinching victory in the opener.
While the air conditioning system has been repaired in the AT&T Center after Game 1 will largely be remembered for LeBron James suffering from cramp down the stretch, the Spurs will know the importance of holding on to home-court advantage and putting the pressure on the defending champions.
Tim Duncan was in efficient form as Tony Parker showed no signs of problems with his ankle, but it was the inspired play off the bench from Manu Ginobili which made a significant difference while Danny Green was red hot in the fourth quarter.
However, the message coming out of San Antonio is that nothing is over and that they will not relax in their bid to avenge their loss in the NBA Finals last year, as the defending champions will undoubtedly react and come back strong.
Surprisingly, despite a huge number of turnovers in Game 1, the Spurs were still able to keep up with the pace of the Heat scoring before eventually taking control as James was forced to watch on from the bench.
Had the four-time MVP been available, the story of Game 1 could have been completely different, but as it stands Dwyane Wade knows that this is the first team to four wins, and he believes that their previous experiences will help them in certain situations.
Nevertheless, with the format changing to 2-2-1-1-1 this year, the Spurs will want to put all the pressure on Miami when the series switches to the AA Arena next week, and a win on Sunday night would get them half-way to another championship,
