Owen issues a Twitter denial that he is connected with The Sun newspaper…
Michael Owen has denied via his Twitter account that he will ever write a column for The Sun newspaper, following aggressive accusations from thousands of Liverpool fans on the social networking site.
A piece published in today’s Sun, under Owen’s name, entitled, ‘We’ve lost the World Cup to computers and iPhones‘ has outraged Liverpool fans all over the country. The Merseyside club has never forgiven the publication for their reporting of the Hillsborough incident in 1989, and players even giving interviews to the paper in the past have been ridiculed.
Michael Owen chose to run his contract down at Liverpool, before later in his career joining Manchester United. This latest incident will no doubt cement the former teen-hero as enemy number one at Anfield.
Okay, let’s set the record straight. I am not, nor will I be in the future, working as a columnist or writing articles for the Sun newspaper

I undertook a promotional day in my capacity as an ambassador for Shinpad Insurance which was attended by numerous media reporters.
