Corrina Schumacher gives a status update as to her husband’s health.
The wife of Formula One legend Michael Schumacher says she beleives her husband is getting better since coming out of his medically induced coma.
Speaking for the first time since the accident that nearly claimed the seven-time world champion’s life, Corrina Schumacher said it slow but steady progress was being made.
“It’s getting better, slowly certainly, but in any case it’s improving,” she said.
The motorsport world was sent into shock on December 29, 2013 when news that Schumacher had been rushed to hospital after suffering a skiing accident with his family in France.
Schumacher fell and struck the right side of his head causing massive injuries despite the F1 star wearing at the time.
The resort and other officials were later cleared of any wrongdoing relating to the accident as Schumacher underwent several operations to release pressure inside his skull and remove worrying blood clots.
Schumacher, 45, lost up to 33 per cent of his body weight as rumours swirled that he would never regain consciousness and would remain in a vegetative state for the rest of his life after being placed in a medically induced coma.
However, after 170 days in hospital Schumacher finally awoke from his coma and is now slowly progressing in his recovery.
