Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta had quite a cameo against West Bromwich Albion; and not the good kind.
The 33-year-old replaced the injured Francis Coquelin after 14 minutes at The Hawthorns, but had been substituted himself four minutes into the second half having left a trail of destruction behind.
The midfielder conceded a free-kick which led to James Morrison cancelling out Olivier Giroud’s headed opener, and then clumsily bundled the ball into his own net to gift the Baggies a 2-1 half-time lead.

Arteta’s miserable 35-minute appearance was compounded when he was forced off with an injury of his own shortly after the restart, although his withdrawal was to the relief of some Gunners supporters!

The Spaniard has been a good servant for Arsenal since arriving from Everton in 2011, but the Emirates Stadium faithful appear to be losing patience with his recent performances and fitness record.
