The midfielder will return to the Hunter Stadium after training with the Championship club.
Millwall have terminated their interest in signing Newcastle Jets captain Ruben Zadkovich, the Newcastle Herald understand.
Reports on Monday suggested the 27-year-old had been invited to train with the London-based Championship club during a visit to England and would remain with them for the rest of the week with a view to earning a permanent deal.
“He is training with a view to trying to impress [manager] Steve Lomas sufficiently to get a contract,” a Millwall spokesman told the Herald.
“Mr Zadkovich’s first session was today. I imagine they will try and get him involved in a game of some sort, maybe a development game.”
It’s thought Zadkovich came to Millwall’s attention while on international duty with Australia at the East Asia Cup in South Korea but it has now emerged that the Lions have decided not to further their pursuit of the midfielder.
He is expected to return to Newcastle on Saturday where he will join his team-mates for pre-season training ahead of the 2013/14 A-League season following an extended break due to his commitments with the Socceroos.
Zadkovich enjoyed an excellent 2012/13 campaign at the Hunter Stadium after he was handed the captains armband February along with being awarded the Ray Baartz Medal.
