The Minnesota Vikings improved their preseason record to 2-0 with a 30-28 win over the Arizona Cardinals. They rallied from behind and sealed the win with 18 seconds remaining on a touchdown pass from rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
Matt Cassel had another fantastic performance as the starting quarterback with 153 yards and a touchdown pass on 12-for-16 passing.
Bridgewater climbed back into the race for the starting job with 177 yards and two touchdowns on 16-for-20 passing. Each of these touchdown passes came in the fourth quarter.
Rodney Smith, who caught the game winner, finished with 55 receiving yards on four catches to make a case for a roster spot.
Tight end Kyle Rudolph led the team in receiving with four catches for 89 yards and a touchdown. Running back Joe Banyard made a case for a roster spot as he rushed for 64 yards on six carries and contributed in the return game with a 44-yard kick return.
Rookie outside linebacker Anthony Barr recorded a sack, indicating that he will be a top contender for Defensive Rookie of the Year.
For the Cardinals, quarterback Carson Palmer fell back to Earth after a flawless performance in the preseason opener. Drew Stanton continued to look fantastic as he threw for 81 yards and a touchdown on 6-for-8 passing.
On defense, rookie safety Deone Bucannon led the team with five tackles.
