Jennings had signed a five-year, $45 million deal with the Vikings after leaving the Green Bay Packers. He proved to be a free-agent bust as he never reached more than 804 receiving yards in a season.
Charles Johnson became a breakout receiver for the Vikings later in the 2014 season, which minimized Jennings’ role in the Vikings offense.
Jennings was due $8.9 million for the 2015 season, and reports indicate that he was unwilling to restructure his contract.
NFL on ESPN reported on Jennings’ release on Twitter.
