Utility signs a new two-year deal with the tricolours.
Sydney Roosters back-rower Mitchell Aubusson has signed a new contract with the NRL high-flyers, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2016 season.
Aubusson had been strongly linked to the Roosters’ Anzac Day opponents St George Illawarra, and his signing is a big boost for his club ahead of the traditional showdown.
Robinson said Aubusson would play a key role in the club’s long-term plans.
“Mitch is a significant contributor to our playing group both on and off the footy field, a genuine person and a true clubman. To ensure that we have him here for a number of years is great for the Roosters,” Robinson said.
With Aubusson re-signing with the tri-colours it takes him off the St George Illawarra Dragons hit-list, with the chased-up Shire side looking to make a splash on the free-agent market.
Aubusson was just one of many names the Dragons were keen to have join their ranks from 2014, with Todd Carney, Josh Dugan and Feleti Mateo rumoured to be wanted by the club.
