New York Yankee Robinson Cano’s homer helped the all-stars of Major League Baseball edge out Taiwan 6-4 on Sunday to give the visitors a 5-0 series victory.
Cano blasted the home run from the Taiwanese team’s left-handed relief Yang Yao-hsun in the third innings after the two sides were tied 3-3 in the last of five exhibition games, in the southern city of Kaohsiung.
Taiwanese starter Wang Chien-ming, who renewed a one-year contract with the Washington Nationals on Saturday, pitched 45 balls and allowed four hits as he was replaced in the third innings.
“My pitching reached only about 50 percent of my desired capacity levels,” Wang told reporters.
Ty Wigginton of the Colorado Rockies also slammed a home run to make the game safe.
Other marquee names on the tour roster included Curtis Granderson of the Yankees, Jeremy Guthrie of Baltimore Orioles and Erick Aybar of Los Angeles Angels.
