9. Adrian Gonzalez is already the National League MVP frontrunner
All-Star ballots for National League first basemen may as well be released now. The Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman has gone off on a tear right away, and he has already hit five home runs with seven RBIs and a whopping .609 batting average. While there is no way Gonzalez will maintain this torrid pace, there’s no denying his consistency as a hitter.
His power is still solid too as he has now hit 100 RBIs in seven of his last eight seasons while hitting 99 in 2009, his only season where he missed the mark. Gonzalez used to hit at least 30 home runs when playing for the San Diego Padres and even reached 40 in 2009, but his power has declined since. However, he has still hit 49 dingers in his last two seasons. Another 30-home run season may be in store for the Dodgers first baseman.
