Statement regards the allegations made against Chivas USA by ex-players and coaches.
Major League Soccer have released a statement on the subject of discrimination amidst the allegations made against Chivas USA.
The statement read:
“We are well aware of the allegations made by ex-players and employees of Chivas USA. MLS has zero tolerance for discrimination or prejudice of any kind and have been deeply committed to diversity and fairness on our fields, in our stadiums and in our workplace.
“We are proud of our record in those areas and expect our owners and clubs to live up to the League’s high standards. And although the allegations in this lawsuit raise serious issues, it would not be appropriate for us to say anything more while the litigation is ongoing.”
The allegations were brought to light in HBO’s “Real Sports”, which covered the accusations of racial discrimination lawsuit from two former coaches, who claimed they were fired because they were “neither Mexican nor Latino.”
The programme prompted a flurry of responses on social media, with the topic being brought up in an online Q&A with MLS Commissioner Don Garber.
When asked, Garber replied that he would be discussing the issue at half time on ESPN’s broadcast of the All-Star game on Wednesday. He said MLS were proud of their zero tolerance stance on discrimination, and added that they expected owners and clubs to abide by their standards.
@Hisco5 I will be discussing this issue during HT of #mlsallstar ESPN2 broadcast Wednesday night. Clearly aware of allegations. ..
