Lloris is the latest star to come onto the radar of Les Rouges et Blancs.
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has greatly impressed since joining the club from Olympique Lyon 12 months ago, but now AS Monaco are targeting the Frenchman, according to the Daily Express.
Marseille stopper Steve Mandanda is the Principality club’s first choice but if they fail to land the France No.2 then they may step up their interests in the No.1.
Mandanda has been told by last year’s Ligue 1 runners-up that the ‘keeper can leave at the end of the current campaign, but there is every chance the club will still try and persuade the 28-year-old to stay.
Lloris however has only been at White Hart Lane for a little over a year and the France captain has become established as manager Andre Villas-Boas’ first choice ahead of Brad Friedel.
The 26-year-old’s assurances on the ball adds to a style Spurs have adopted that involves the ball being played to feet at the back.
Lloris is a ‘keeper from the new era that is comfortable in possession and doesn’t panic when put under pressure.
So far this season Tottenham have built their success on a sturdy back line, conceding just once in five matches and helping the side to six points from their first three Premier League ties.
With a defence that also includes Jan Vertonghen and skipper Michael Dawson, Villas-Boas’ tactics look similar to those of the 35-year-old’s former mentor – Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho has built success at several top sides around Europe based on the ethos that the sides build from the back, ensuring not too many goals are conceded before going for the win.
It was this sort of mentality that saw the Chelsea boss not lose a home match for over eight years.
