Portuguese is still to put pen to paper on a new deal in Spain.
Mega-rich Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco are preparing a sensational world-record £85 million bid for unsettled Real Madrid playmaker Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports in the Independent.
The Portugal international is said to be unhappy with his current circumstances in the Spanish capital, having been at the Santiago Bernabeu for the past four seasons, after joining los Blancos from Manchester United in a world-record deal worth £80m in June 2009.
And in the intervening four-year period, the 28-year-old has more than lived up to his billing as one of the two best players in the world alongside FC Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, scoring a remarkable 201 goals in just 199 matches in all competitions for the Liga giants, including 146 strikes in only 135 league outings for the club.
However, with a contract in Madrid that runs until June 30 2015 and still no sign of the Portuguese agreeing to extend his stay in Spain, Monaco are said to be keen to tempt the player to the South of France this summer.
