The nouveau-riche French side have taken advantage of Moyes and Wenger’s hesitancy by lodging the first offer.
Geoffrey Kondogbia, long-standing summer transfer target of both Arsenal and Manchester United, is the subject of a £13m bid from AS Monaco, says the Express
The big-spenders have already vastly improved their Ligue 2 title-winning squad with a host of major transfers, including central midfielders Jeremy Toulalan and Joao Moutinho, and believe that Kondogbia could offer an athleticism and drive currently missing from the middle of the park.
This spells bad news for Arsenal and United. The two sides are both in desperate need of a defensive midfielder and, whilst Sevilla have stated that Kondogbia will only be sold for top-dollar, his asking price is thought to be very attainable for the two Premier League sides.
Now that Monaco have entered the race however, Sevilla could up their asking price knowing full well that Monaco have the means to match it – and pricing Moyes and Wenger out of a transfer.
Kondogbia’s stock is certainly on the rise, with his first international cap for France coming just earlier this month as Les Bleus drew 0-0 with Belgium.
He only moved to Sevilla from Lens last year, where he helped a weakened Rojiblancos side to ninth in La Liga in just his second season playing at senior level.
